A midwest logistics company ran 180 delivery trucks using whiteboards, spreadsheets and phone calls. Dispatchers manually assigned routes each morning based on tribal knowledge. If a truck broke down or a customer changed their delivery window, the entire day's schedule had to be rebuilt on the fly. Challenge

Solution
We deployed a cloud-native logistics platform in three phases. First, we equipped each truck with a tablet running a custom tracking app that sent GPS coordinates, engine diagnostics and delivery status every 30 seconds. Second, we built a real-time analytics engine that processed streaming data to calculate ETAs, detect route deviations and flag maintenance issues before they caused breakdowns. Third, we implemented an AI route optimizer that considered traffic patterns, delivery windows, driver hours and fuel costs to generate optimal daily routes in under two minutes instead of the previous three hours of manual work.
Outcome
On-time delivery rate improved from 71% to 94%. Fuel costs dropped 18% from optimized routing. The dispatcher team was reduced from 6 people to 2, handling more trucks than before. Customer satisfaction scores rose from 3.2 to 4.6 out of 5. The platform paid for itself within 8 months of full deployment.
